Tambov is located in Russian Federation. Tambov is the administrative center of Tambov region. It isn`t so big town-the population of the town is about 285 000 people, the area is 91 square kilometres.Tambov is a very important center of agriculture and livestock.

This city was founded by Roman Bobоrykin by 1636. Tambov was originally a fortress that protected the south of Russia from Tatar raids. In 1796 there was Tambov Province, which area was about 67 000 square kilometers.Tambov Province consisted of 12 counties. A separate Tambov region was founded in 1937.

A lot of talanted people lived and worked in Tambov.A poet and social activist Gavriil Derzhavin was the most famous governor of Tambov. Natives of this town were also a historian Chicherin and biologist Michurin. In Tambov studied and served Vasily Agapkin. His march “Proszanie Slavyanki” became the anthem of the Tambov region.

Like other cities Tambov has places to visit, such as house-museum of Chicherin, museum of local history, art gallery and Drama Theatre.

The most outstanding thing in Tambov landscape is forest. There you can walk and enjoy nature. Moreover there is a river Tsna on the coast of embankment.

In Tambov people like to do sport very much. For example they do ice skating and skiing, play ice hockey and football.
